Mini Market

We had an action packed morning. Wonderous One and TEAM 2 got together to have a Mini-Market. First we had to check out the resources that we had to work with, then we brainsotmed some posssible products we could make. After that we used a "Decision Making Grid" to help us choose which would be the best product. We onle had 10 Maddy $ to spend and 2o minutes to make our products. Each group had to promote or advertise the product too. Then everyone had 3Maddy $ to spend! After the
Mini MArket was over we had to calculate which group had made the most profit. It was an interesting outsome for some groups. A couple of groups made a significant profit but a couple of groups ended up making a loss!

Have a look at the movie of our mornings learning.

Warwick Smith in class

Today we had photographer, Warwick Smith, come to take photos of parts of our faces. He is going to use them to create an art work using photos of about 150  children. The finished artwork will be on display in the windows of the Public Library on George Street on the weekend of the 3rd September. You should go along and see if you can find the piece of your face he used.

He was inspired by the artwork of David Hockney

Snow in Palmerston North!

Wow what a extrodinary event...snow in Palmerston North. The next day there was still snow on the ground at school, so we got out and made a few snowballs. One of our lovely teacher aides even thought it was a good idea to put a handhul of ice down Mrs Speirs back! Check out the movie with some of the pics. We also write some amazing diamante poems too.

Our First Task

We had our first "PAYDAY" on Tuesday. We all got paid 5 WI$E. Then we had to make a wallet to put our money in. It had to have our name on it and keep the money secure. We could buy or hire the things we needed from the class shop. We all finished on time surprisingly, maybe because we would get fined if we didn't finish! We came up with some really creative and cool wallets.

Market to Market

This term we are learning about designing and producing a product to sell on Market Day. This will help raise funds for a new playground area. At the moment we have been learning more about money!
Follow the link to play some games that will also help you learn about money matters.
