Warm and Cool Hand Art

We are working on our first art project. Mrs Speirs got the idea from a friend that found it on Pinterest. We think they will look very effective when they are finished. This is our progress so far...

SKUNK

We played SKUNK to practice our addition basic facts. Liam had the top score yesterday so he was "Skunk of the Day" and got to run the game today. Play it at home, it's so easy, you just need dice and some scrap paper. You can make it addition or multiplication too.

SOLO and Circle Maps

We are going to use the SOLO Taxonomy to help us advance our thinking and questioning in TEAM 2. We learnt the hand signs for each level. Remember how we played the quick draw game...

We also used a Thinking Map to organise our thinking about what we know about Waitangi Day.

Mission Impossible! by Tavita

Splash! As  I hopped into the pool it felt like I was trapped in a freezing fridge. We did two lengths of horror. I did freestyle but it felt like I was karate chopping the water. My feet were like two propellers on a jet boat. Once I was near the end my body started to shut down. I got out thenI started to run and my legs felt like jelly. My heart had never beaten this fast before...

Mini Meleon

We wrote some descriptions of a newly discovered species of Chameleon. Read Adains and Caelans descriptions, they used some lovely language to give their writing impact.

Mini Meleon

Discovered in Madagascar the tiniest chameleon, Brookseia-micra! Brookseia-micra aka mini-meleon was discoverd in Madagascar this year. It has rough scaley dry skin and its claws are like little fishing hooks put into his mitten like feet. He looks like my grumpy grandpa. It also looks like a mini hammerhead shark. Its tail is curled like a koru. It's so small it's almost invisible! Its habitat is the big jungle. It also has spikes that look like a beard. I think it would be awesome to have a mini-meleon as a pet.

Mini Minitature Meleon

Discovered in Madagascar the worlds tiniest chameleon. Its scientific name is Brookseia-micra and it's so small it can fit on the head of a match. the tiny critter looks like a grumpy wrinkly old grandpa. Its eyes are bulgy like lightbulbs. His skin is dry, rough, hard and scaley like sandpaper. His feet are pointy and his claws are like needles. I think the newly discovered little mini-meleon is one of the cutest critters in the world. It would be sad if they were no longer alive.

Welcome to 2012

Hi there everyone... Welcome to TEAM 2 Blog for 2012. I have decided to carry on with the blog from last year as there was so much great stuff that we can still use and enjoy. If you are new to TEAM 2 spend some time having a look around. If you have some ideas of what you would like to see on your blog let me know. The crew that were with me last year you could guide your team-mates to some of your favourites.

Remember you can leave a comment or add a question. There was a post added last year with instructions on how to do this, see if you can find it.

Last year blogging was new to me so I added most of the content. This year my goal is to get you adding and creating things on the blog.

I have set up a new class for Study Ladder, the link is on the side bar. When you first visit Study Ladder you need to change your avitar. I will give you your password so you can log on.

Remember that your password is for you.... DO NOT SHARE IT WITH OTHERS. Passwords are an important way for you to keep yourself safe when using the internet.

Bike Safety

We have been learning how to be road wise and how to keep ourselves safe on our bikes. Constable Emily came to school and we had a series of lessons that taught us the skills we needed before we went on a road ride.

Have a look at the movie with pictures from our skills lesson. We were learning about the correct hand signals to use and how to use them on an obstacle course. It was quite a challenge!

Writing Page

I've just updated the Writing page. There are three new links I think you'll like. There are 2 poetry links, one for writing Diamante Poems like we have worked on in class and the other one is for writing a Monster Poem. The last link is to a "Storystarter Machine". You have to select your grade, I suggest the grade 3 -6. Let me know what you think...

Comments

Hi there TEAM 2 and followers, I would love to have some comments added. Not sure how? Easy...  under the post you want to comment on just click on Comment then type in your message in the box, where it says Comment as select on the dropdown menu Anonymous then click on Post Comment.  Please add your first name so I can see who the comment is from. I will get an email to say there is a comment and once I have approved it, it will be added on the blog. I won't approve a comment without a name. Only positive and supportive comments will be approved.

Thanks.

Do you have any suggestions of what you would like to see or have added to the Blog? Let me know.
